iOS 8 SDK announced by Apple - Good news for game developers and gamers!
It's not always about what the gamers want, sometimes it's about the game developers too, and todays announcement made a lot of developers pretty excited about what's available NOW. iOS 8 SDK includes 4,000 new API calls but even more exciting than that - it includes Metal, a new graphics API similar to AMD's Mantle.
Let's not forget about the other big announcement: Swift.
Swift is supposed to be faster, and allow a lot of goodies that were just frustrating to work with in Objective C. They tout that it is paving the way for the future of mobile development, and it may very well be. Objective C always felt just a little clunky to me, so we'll see.
The iOS beta software is available now for registered Apple developers. XCode 6 is required to support the Swift programming language. I've already started compiling a list of early Swift guides and tutorials to help you (ahem, me) along the way! If you would like to submit your own swift programming tutorial, or if you found one somewhere else that's not on the list.
